PA and Project Assistant to Alison Grade, Mission Accomplished Ltd.

The role is for 6 months from September 2021 until February 2022.

Rate: £1,550 – £1,700 per month for 4-5 days per week pro rata and according to experience.

This is a freelance role, based in Central Birmingham (Jewellery Quarter). The role is open to flexible working arrangements – e.g. hours, remote working, term-time only.

What is the role?

The role is to support Alison Grade, Author of The Freelance Bible and founder of training and strategy consultancy Mission Accomplished.

Mission Accomplished has grown significantly over the last 12 months and Alison is now looking to expand the team with the creation of this PA and Project Assistant role. The role will support Alison as PA as well as supporting on the delivery of client projects for Alison and the Project Manager.

Mission Accomplished’s work is focussed on the Creative Industries – in particular the screen industries – and much of the client work is focussed in these sectors. Clients also include many HE and FE establishments across the UK as well as the Creative Business Response and Recovery Programme and ScreenSkills. The company is based in Birmingham, West Midlands. The project assistant role will involve helping with setting up events and liaising with speakers.

There may be some weekend and/or evening working required. TOIL will be given. We are open to discussion of flexible working arrangements.

What skills / experience am I looking for?

The ideal person would be someone who who has a keen interest and/or knowledge of the screen sector and/or wider creative industries and who is based in the West Midlands. You could be just starting your career or looking to return to to the workplace after a break.

The role will be split between PA work to support Alison, and project assistance on client projects. The majority of the company’s work supports training, events and development activities for our clients.

It would suit someone who has some office experience preferably in a screen or creative company. It is a junior level role and would provide valuable production office related experience for someone wanting a career in production management for screen.

As this is an outward facing role, we are looking for someone who is a confident communicator both in writing and over the phone (and video calls).

Essential for the role:

Diary management and co-ordination;

Highly efficient and organized

Confident with Microsoft Office and all the packages;

Confident with Zoom and Teams to set up and manage meetings and events

Project management skills; able to plan work through the business as well as manage multiple deadlines;

Good communicator; able to demonstrate ability to manage client relationships, sometimes complex, with ease;

Problem solver

Must be able to work under own initiative and uphold the Mission Accomplished values and ethos.

Desirable skills

PA experience ideally in a small business going through rapid growth;

Sector experience, preferably within screen;

Understanding of Higher Education/Further Education systems in addition to Creative Sector knowledge;

Experience of setting up and running events (e.g. student events, volunteering and/or in a professional capacity)

Experience using PowerPoint (e.g. adapting and updating presentations from content provided)

Knowledge of Canva;

Basic knowledge of WordPress (e.g. creating blog posts from content provided)
